Import Option Examples

The Trade Archives can handle any broker .csv file that is organized in a logical way. When importing options, the Symbol (Ticker, Strike, Expiration, Type) can either be in one column of the file or many columns. Here are some common examples.

Symbol in ONE Column

As you can see, all the information is in one column (‘Symbol’). Notice that the order is ‘Ticker Expiration Strike Type’ and the date has two spaces (between Jul and 17 and between 17 and ’20). To import this trade, use the settings below.

Symbol in MULTIPLE Columns

Now the information is in multiple columns. When we select the data for ‘Symbol’ we will need to select four columns ‘Ticker’, ‘Exp Date’, ‘Strike Price’, and ‘Call/Put’.  Also note that the Expatriation has no spaces. The order we select the columns in is the order that the format must be in. I will select them in a different order so you can understand the process.
